Shayashone, a burgeoning enterprise involved in agribusiness advisory/consultancy services, manufacturing and distribution, commercialization of social impact products, and import and export, has recently diversified its interests into the education sector through a collaboration with a development organization.

Shayashone PLC is currently in search of a Junior Accountant to complement its affiliate company, PHK Trading PLC. PHK Trading PLC serves as the exclusive distributor of PICS Bags in Ethiopia and has expanded its operations to include various agro-input products. The Junior Accountant will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing several key financial tasks, including posting journal entries, updating financial statements, handling accounts receivable and accounts payable, processing monthly payroll, and preparing financial reports.

Position: Junior Accountant Officer


Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting

Minimum of 1 year of experience, preferably in import and export, business development, agribusiness, market development, or related fields

Additional Skills:

Exceptional organizational skills

Keen attention to detail

Strong numerical and analytical abilities

Proficiency in Accounting Software (Peachtree) and Microsoft Excel

Thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Record and analyze journal entries meticulously to guarantee precise documentation of all business dealings.

Administer accounts receivable by generating invoices and maintaining updated records.

Oversee accounts payable, execute payments, and carry out reconciliations.

Aid in crafting balance sheets, income statements, and additional financial reports in accordance with legal and company standards.

Execute monthly bank reconciliations.

Track inventory reports and rectify disparities on a daily basis.

Provide assistance in scrutinizing expenses, payroll records, etc., as delegated.

Preserve precise financial information in databases for prompt retrieval.

Produce and deliver reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as required.

Perform monthly bank reconciliations

Monitor inventory reports and reconcile discrepancies on a daily basis

Support in reviewing expenses, payroll records, etc., as assigned

Maintain accurate financial data in databases for immediate access

Generate and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports

Prepare and file various tax returns promptly, including payroll tax, pension, withholding, VAT, Royalty, annual profit tax, and others as required

Facilitate Value Added Tax refunds from the Tax Authority

Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual Statutory Audit

Assist senior accountants in monthly/yearly closings

Participate in other accounting projects as needed
