Job Description:
World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is closely collaborating with the government and other stakeholders to address the needs of people affected by conflict-induced crises. Protection interventions include the prevention and response to all forms of violence against children, addressing gender-based violence (GBV), and providing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for vulnerable children, women, and other community groups. The primary responsibility of the GBV & MHPSS Coordinator is to oversee the implementation of all World Vision Ethiopia GBViE programs, ensuring adequate staff capacity to deliver quality projects throughout their cycles.
Lead the preparation of ongoing situation reports, periodic updates, and analyses by compiling and analyzing data on overall Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) and humanitarian crisis in target areas, with a specific focus on GBViE and MHPSS.
Undertake regular field visits to project areas and IDP sites to assess local conditions and monitor progress.
Establish contact with community groups and partners to stay abreast of the emergency situation.
Ensure the application of standards, guidelines, and good practices for child protection in emergency-related activities.
Design, prepare, monitor, and evaluate projects in the Protection, working with existing partners to strengthen GBV and MHPSS components of ongoing work and identifying new partners to expand WVE’s portfolio.
Monitor, assess, and scrutinize project outcomes to guarantee the attainment of goals and implement corrective measures as required.
Provide technical support, including capacity-building training on GBV prevention and response and MHPSS, for case workers, case managers, WGFS facilitators, and key government stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
Required Professional Experience:
Minimum of five years’ experience for BA and three years for MA graduates in gender-based violence, child protection, and related areas, program/project development, and management in an emergency context.
Proven experience in designing and implementing GBVIE and MHPSS training for various stakeholders.
Direct case management experience, working with children, women, and adolescents is an asset.
Knowledge and experience in Gender-Based Violence programming, including Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and MPHPSS.
Required Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification:
Comprehensive expertise developed in the areas of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Case Management, and the implementation of international technical guidelines.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:
First degree in social work, sociology, psychology, public health, and relevant fields of social sciences with five years of work experience or a Master’s degree in these fields with three years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge and skills in implementing integrated CP responses, including Gender-Based Violence.
Familiarity with or enthusiasm for safeguarding strategies rooted in community engagement..
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:
Frequent travel to project sites and to the National Office as needed.
Language Requirements:
Fluent in written and spoken English.
