The Addis Ababa University (AAU) School of Public Health invites qualified candidates to apply for the following vacant positions:
Position 1: Terms of Reference – Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical and Research Support:
- Provide comprehensive technical and administrative support for research implementation.
- Develop evaluation instruments, methodologies, training guides, and other research-related materials.
- Collaborate with local health authorities, UNICEF, MoH, and LSHTM to ensure smooth research implementation.
- Data Collection and Management:
- Supervise data collection activities, ensuring strict adherence to established protocols.
- Train and oversee field data collectors and enumerators, maintaining high performance and accuracy.
- Ensure data quality through regular monitoring and validation checks.
- Operational Support:
- Work effectively with implementation partners and regional health offices.
- Hold regular meetings with the research team to evaluate progress and tackle any challenges.
- Develop and adapt work plans to meet evolving research needs.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the research project.
- Prepare and submit periodic progress reports.
Qualifications:
- MPH in Nutrition or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and managing large-scale field studies, especially cohort studies.
- Familiarity with micronutrient supplementation programs and adherence measurement methods.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills, proficient in statistical software (e.g., STATA).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong personal motivation and willingness to travel to study sites (more than 50% of the time).
- Participation in other academic activities within the department.

Position 2: Research Coordinator – Voucher for Treatment (V4T) Trial

Position Details:
- Location: Full-time contract at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, School of Public Health, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with frequent travel to study sites.
- Funding Source: World Food Program (WFP).
- Term of Employment: 12 months.
- Salary: As per the project scale.
Qualifications:
- MPH in Nutrition or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and managing large-scale field research, especially RCTs and evaluation studies.
- Knowledge of the CMAM program in Ethiopia is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills, proficient in statistical software (e.g., STATA).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong personal motivation and willingness to travel to study sites (more than 50% of the time).

Position 3: Statistician and Data Manager – Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data Management:
- Develop and maintain databases for storing research data.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and accuracy.
- Oversee data entry processes, ensuring accurate recording and storage.
- Implement data quality control measures.
- Develop protocols for measuring results and identifying problem areas.
- Technical Support:
- Provide expertise in designing evaluation tools and methodologies.
- Guide data collection procedures to ensure statistical soundness.
- Train field staff and data collectors on data management protocols.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare detailed statistical reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of peer-reviewed publications.
- Ensure that all data management and analysis activities adhere to ethical guidelines and standards.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the research team, local health authorities, UNICEF, the Ministry of Health (MoH), and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
Position Details:
- Location: Full-time contract at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, School of Public Health, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with frequent travel to study sites.
- Funding Source: Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Institute for International Programs, and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF).
- Term of Employment: 12 months with the possibility of extension.
- Required Number: 1.
- Salary: As per the project scale.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in statistical analysis and data management in public health research.
- Proven expertise in managing large-scale field studies and handling complex datasets.
- Familiarity with micronutrient supplementation programs is an asset.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., STATA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
