Job Title: Category Sourcing Manager (Technology)

Role Objective:

• Lead procurement initiatives in the IT and/or Network domains, overseeing the entire purchasing cycle, including crafting category strategies, managing end-to-end tendering processes, negotiating and overseeing supplier contracts. Ensure the company consistently obtains the best services/products at the most economical prices within outsourced technology services, while adhering to procurement policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Decision Ownership:

• Drive category management within the supply chain with a focus on category sourcing.

• Develop category sourcing strategies to achieve optimal procurement value for assigned categories.

• Execute outsourcing activities, securing optimal pricing and terms to meet business needs promptly.

• Maintain a comprehensive supplier database, encompassing markets, sub-categories, capabilities, technology, cost analysis, and key performance indicators.

• Negotiate and facilitate the implementation of short and long-term agreements with suppliers.

• Monitor supplier performance to ensure the delivery of quality goods and services as per contract/purchase order.

• Develop and implement supplier catalogs/pricelists within the ERP system to facilitate user self-service.

• Implement cost optimization measures in collaboration with budget holders and suppliers.

• Enforce governance and controls, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures in procurement processes.

• Provide training, coaching, and advisory support to users throughout the procurement process.

Category Management And Planning / Procurement Strategy

• Share and apply category-specific supplier market intelligence to enhance business decisions.

• Use appropriate tools and techniques to develop and implement strategic Category Plans.

Contract Management

• Build and implement effective business contracts and understand the legal implications.

• Apply knowledge of the ethical and legal environment to safeguard Safaricom’s interests.

Education & Experience:

• Degree in Technology, Engineering, or ICT (Information and Communications Technology).

Possessing a Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain Management provides a valuable edge.

• Minimum of 5-7 years of technology/engineering or procurement experience.
